The way we look at things can have a direct impact on whether we can be on our way to being successful or not. Having a habit to put myself down when there are so many good things I can think of has been an obstacle to overcome. It is hard because when something does not go your way you can get angry at what is around you and that is you. Results do not define your identity. You will not be defined by anything because it is up to you to choose what you want to be about. Do not let the media and other people fool you into thinking they know who you are. They do not know anything about you, but you know about you. You have the best judgement to decide on who you are, and nobody can take that away from you. People may want control or want you to do something for them and confuse you. You know what is real about you, so please go use it. We each have gifts for this world and who knows what yours could be. You could be rolling your eyes, but I bet if you think about it something will come to mind. We do not always pay attention to what our heart wants, but that does not mean that desire ever goes away. There is always something we can improve about ourselves and there is always something to be grateful and appreciative towards. What if everyone spreads lies about you? Then you have remarkable stories to laugh and learn about. You will understand other people’s true colors and the information will come to you. Some people wish they could get the information sent to them and if that comes up it will end up getting back to you. Do we panic and scream “Why me?” I have asked that before and the answer to that is silence. We relax and take a hold of what we can control. Remember the “What can I control about the situation?” Can I control society embracing me in their arms? Probably not. Can I control my perception of what happened and how I view my role in the situation? That seems more reasonable to me. We need to take the gas off the insults and self-blaming, though. That as a pattern can lead to unhealthy behaviour and can slow you down from growing. If I have found that it helps when you feel motivated to make it and when you know you are the only one that can break yourself. Others may love to break you, but they will not be able to. You do not feel forced to anyone’s bidding. You are responsible for yourself. What we lose sight of when we want to control events and control everything is life is working for you. The control can confusion, it can hurt us, and it really is not helping anything. When we decide to stay motivated and let go is when I think good things can start to happen. What I can control is this post is over.
