Where did all my heroes go? Why is it when we look for someone to turn to, someone to give us courage, we are not looking at ourselves? We need to be the ones that are strong enough for ourselves, understand ourselves, take care of ourselves. We must be the powerful force for ourselves. I am not saying go into the grocery aisles and start bulldozing people over, but you will always be your #1 fan. If no one is clapping for you, excited for you, not around for you, then what are you left with? That is one constant I can promise in life and that is you need to take care of yourself. Make sure your needs get taken care of. You can plan your future around others all your friends, your partner, your family, but you always will have to start with yourself. When you make mistakes, have that difficult day or bad week than that is when you may need to be the strongest for yourself. When you feel beaten up, tired, you will have no choice, but to take care of yourself. That is a great chance to learn about yourself in those moments. Examine what is working in your life and what can improve. Have you eaten? Go grab some food that will make you feel good. Have you gotten enough sleep the last 3 days? Go take a nap until you feel refreshed to enjoy the day. Ask yourself what your biggest obstacle/worry is or what goal do I want to accomplish next? Take a step in problem-solving how to solve the biggest worry. For your goals, it always helped me to think of steps I will need to take to accomplish my goal. Let us say I want to be a teacher, for example. I will have to go to school and get an education. I might have/want to do co-op at university, join clubs, attend meetings, etc. What I mean from this is accomplishing goals usually takes multiple challenges to go through to get to the goal. You have short-term goals and long-term goals. What I suggest when accomplishing a goal is think about the entire process of getting where you are now to where you want to be later. What do I need to do to be able to do this? When you break down the goals into steps you are turning a huge mountain into a hill. It is much easier to process, does not seem as challenging, focus on succeeding at each step, when you break it down into steps. From personal experience, I have had goals I have succeeded at and goals on which I still am working. Trying to help others in the best way I can is a goal of mine, so I am working on that each day. I am also working on being a better person each day like everyone else. What can we learn about ourselves today that can save and help us tomorrow?
