When people want to know about you and start asking you questions, do you let them in on your business? Do you tell them to politely back off and mind their business? It can be tough to determine how to react to people and how to still be able to have peace of mind. I had so much trouble with this in the past and did not understand why. It was because I was being too open and sharing too much early on. People may want to get to know you for a variety of reasons. They may be wanting to be close to you and be your friend. They may be trying to set up for something and are being friendly so they know what is going on with you. Have you ever had the person be like “so you will be outside the school at 4pm Wednesday waiting” for example. You will learn over time and if you do not learn then life will get rough to find your way around strangers or even people you may know. Remember the people that are wearing masks, so if we are not careful, we will get burned before they do. Not everyone is like this and we can have loving relationships. We all may not have them, but we can try to understand how they would make things good. I feel you cannot be too open or be too scared when getting to know others. All these navigations are going on with people every day. The next time I socialize I am going to pretend I am the captain of a ship. I am going to do this because of alll the navigating we do with people each day in our lives. Some people get a thrill out of it and I need my batteries recharged by 10am. If it is too overwhelming for you like it is for me then we will follow the movie “What About Bob? and take baby steps. Movies do have good ideas in them and can be relatable. They can also be 100% unrelatable as well. The bottom line is I think we constantly need to be ware not necessarily for survival, but it would be an asset when dealing with people. If you thrive off socializing and are extroverted, what do you tend to worry about? We can be so different and trying to relate to each other can be a chore. People want fun, amusement, interesting stories. I like to be engaged in thought or story. You know something is a good story when you say for example you are reading a book and you can see a person in the story come to life sitting down somewhere. You can visually see the character even though all you have are the words to the story. We always want something and when we are not getting what we want we may be somewhere else until we get it. We can each be stubborn like that. I was a perfectionist, but that was not reasonable and it became frustrating to deal with. Now when I make a mistake, I get a sense of relief that I am human sometimes.
